The contest was conducted by the City’s Public Works Recycling Division during the month of September to assist in promoting the Casa Grande Recycles programThe contest was open to 4th and 5th graders in the Casa Grande school district. Primary goals of the contest were to create signs to display on the City’s sanitation trucks to promote recycling and to provide students with additional opportunities to learn about recycling and be involved with the City’s recycling program. Participants were asked to create artwork along with  text to communicate either the:

The winning artwork was selected based on the following criteria:
  • Conformance with the identified themes
  • Creativity, originality, artistic quality
  • Visual clarity and readability of artwork and message
A total of 138 students participated, although all students participating in the contest were considered winners, 6 contestants were selected for special recognition and the reproduction of their artwork, by Mayor Bob Jackson.
