About the Program
The summer internship program provides students with a glimpse into the world of public service with a chance to explore several different careers in local government. The program lasts 6 weeks, with interns working a flexible 20-40 hours/week at $13.85/hour for high school students and $15.50/hour for college students. Participants will be assigned to a City Department based on the choice indicated in their application.
Public Works
As an Engineering Intern in the Public Works Department, you will work in a dynamic team environment with exposure to various projects, including capital improvement, planning and development of transportation projects, and traffic engineering and operation. Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
Community Services
As an Intern in the Community Services Department - Recreation Division, you will have the opportunity to work on the marketing, coordination, and planning of exciting special events and activities.
Planning & Development
As an Intern in the Planning & Development Department, you will see firsthand how services are provided to continually improve the quality of life for Casa Grande residents through thoughtful management of growth and development opportunities. Applicants Must be at least 17 years old.
Attorney's Office
As an Intern in the Attorney's Office, you will be given exposure to a variety of functions. Interns will have the opportunity to assist with the victim assistance program, civil casework, and possibly criminal components as well. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
PIO
As an intern in the Public Information Office, you will have the opportunity to coordinate communication efforts for the entire organization. Students with an interest in marketing, social media, graphic design, and community outreach; do not miss the perfect opportunity to start developing those skills!
Fire
As an intern in the Fire Department, you will learn about the various positions within a fire department while also assisting with several special projects. For students interested in a career in Municipal Fire Prevention, this is the perfect opportunity to start building those connections and learn about the profession.
City Manager's Office
As an Intern in the City Manager's Office, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects, initiatives, processes, and planning that encompass the entire organization. Practical experience and learning are the focus of our internship, and with that in mind, the department will try to tailor the projects to the intern's individual strengths and interests. Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
