FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 9-11 National Day of Service Project Encourages Community Members to Participate and Pay Tribute.
Casa Grande, AZ (August 10, 2023) – The City of Casa Grande invites the community to participate in the 9-11 National Day of Service Project on Saturday, September 9th, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by helping to clean-up Casa Grande (CG) Mountain.
The 9-11 National Day of Service and Remembrance encourages community members to join together to show unity and kindness in tribute and remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, at the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the open field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
In partnership with the Casa Grande Union High School District, we are encouraging the community to join in a clean-up event at CG Mountain on Saturday, September 9th, as illegal dumping has become increasingly problematic in this beautiful desert area.
Those wishing to participate in the effort will meet at 7:00 a.m. at the Elzy Pearson Shooting Range (2766 South Isom Rd.), where Mayor Craig McFarland and other community leaders will provide a brief opening presentation and instructions on which areas need the most attention. Trash bags and gloves will be offered to participants on a first-come, first-served basis; however, participants are also welcome to bring their own. Lunch service will be offered after clean-up, around 11:00 a.m.
There are two locations to sign up as a volunteer for the National Day of Service. Please visit www.casagrandeaz.gov/volunteer or www.justserve.org to participate in the clean-up effort.
Please note that the shooting range will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for event preparation.
