FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PEART ROAD AT MCCARTNEY ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS SCHEDULED (06/19).
Beginning Monday, June 19th and lasting approximately one month, the intersection of Peart Road and McCartney Road will undergo roadway improvements. This work will increase the flow of traffic at the intersection by constructing an additional lane for eastbound traffic on McCartney Road. A westbound dedicated left turn lane on McCartney Road onto southbound Peart Road will also be installed.
“We are currently looking for ways to reduce traffic congestion throughout the city in a cost-effective manner and this will improve traffic flow by up to 30% in the area,” said Kevin Louis, Public Works Director. This project is a precursor to the McCartney Road widening project, which is currently in the design stages, and set to begin construction later this year.
Motorists will experience varying lane restrictions and are asked to drive cautiously through the detour as construction crews will be working on the roadway.
The work is scheduled from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
