The After-Hours Fee is $150 for the first two hours and $75 for every hour thereafter. (Public Safety Operations are exempt from the After-Hours Fee)

9. Can I reach Flight Service from the ground?: No, you cannot reach Flight Service from the ground. You can call Flight Service on a landline or cell phone from the ground, but, if you are communicating over the on-board radio, you will need to call after takeoff at altitude.

11. Does the airport have landing fees?: No, the airport does not charge landing fees.

12. What is the length of your runway?: The existing Runway 05-23 is 5,200 feet in length and 100 feet wide. Beginning at the Runway 5 threshold, the runway slopes uphill from an elevation of 1445 to an elevation of 1462 at the runway 23 threshold. This location is the high point of the runway.

13. What are your current fuel prices?: Please refer to AirNav for updated fuel prices.

14. Do you have a crew car or taxi services?: No, the airport does not supply a taxi service. However, there are a number of taxi operations in the local area of Casa Grande, in addition to Lyft and Uber drivers.

1. How do I determine the proper swim lesson class for my child?: The City's swim lesson program is affiliated with the Starfish Aquatics Institute Swimming Program. Classes are offered based on the age and skill level of the participant. See a listing of classes as well as age requirements and prerequisite. For more information or additional questions, please contact our Recreation Office at 520-421-8677.

2. Can I bring a group or daycare to the pool during open swim hours?: Yes, any and all groups are welcome at the facility. A Group Use Form (PDF) must be completed and submitted at the time of entry, which will provide staff with the number and skill level of swimmers as well as staff attending. The Group Use Form also outlines the expectations of staff supervision during the visit.

3. Can I bring outside food or drink into the pool facility?: No outside food or drink is allowed inside the Palm Island Family Aquatic Park. If there is a special need or dietary restriction, please consult with management staff on-site. The facility offers a variety of pre-packaged food and drinks concessions that are available for purchase during open swim hours.

4. How do I become a lifeguard?: Anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard must enroll in the lifeguard training course or have an existing Red Cross lifeguard certification and should apply in the spring through the City website. Applicants must pass the class as well as the skills test, which includes an uninterrupted 300-yard swim, a two-minute water tread, and a 20-yard brick retrieval.

5. Are scholarships offered for swim lessons?: Scholarship funds may be available, and require an application to be submitted in person at the Community Recreation Center at the time of registration.

2. How can I serve on a Board or Commission?

In order to serve on a City of Casa Grande Board or Commission, the following requirements must be met.

Must reside in Casa Grande for at least one year
Must be a registered voter
Submit an application (PDF) for review and appointment by the City Council

3. What are the requirements to run for local political office?

The Mayor and Councilmembers shall be qualified electors of the city and shall hold no other public office for which they receive compensation except that of a notary public or member of the National Guard or naval or military reserve. Candidates must have resided in the city for three years next preceding the date of such election or appointment. If the Mayor or a Councilmember shall cease to possess any of these qualifications or shall be convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, that office shall immediately become vacant.

City employees are not eligible to stand for election or serve as Mayor or as members of the City Council.

Candidates for Mayor must be 25 years of age or older, and candidates for Councilmember must be 21 years of age or older.

4. How do I request a Mayor’s Proclamation?: The Mayor is pleased to issue Proclamations from the City of Casa Grande to recognize special occasions or outstanding achievements in the lives of Casa Grande residents. Proclamation requests can be emailed to the City Clerks' Office or by calling 520-421-8600. In order to ensure adequate processing time, requests are asked to be made as early in advance of the event as possible. The City Clerk's Office has the right to modify or deny any proclamation request.

How do I get on the agenda to speak at a City Council Meeting?: Members of the public have the opportunity to address the Mayor and City Council during the "Public Comment" section of every City Council meeting. 2. Are public records free?

There is no charge to review public records at the municipal facility where they are stored. However, there is a fee for photocopies, audio CDs, videos, photos, and other items. Visit the City's Fee Schedule.

Payment is due when the items are received. The City of Casa Grande accepts payments in form of cash, check, money order, debit, and credit cards (Visa/MasterCard only).

3. How long will it take to receive a response concerning public records?: As a rule, the City of Casa Grande responds to all requests for information as quickly as possible. However, it may not always be possible to fill requests for public records right away because records need to be reviewed first to see if they contain confidential information. Despite this, the City of Casa Grande strives to respond to public records requests within 5 working days. However, if the request is very large in scope, spans multiple departments or requires additional preparation or review, it may require more time to process. If so, it will take more than 5 days.

4. Are all records public records?

Although most information the City of Casa Grande maintains is public and therefore subject to disclosure, some information is considered to be confidential. As custodians of confidential information, the City of Casa Grande is obligated to protect such things as:

1. Who can I talk to about helping me with my case?: Court staff may be able to give you information about your case, but they are not lawyers and cannot give you legal advice. By law, it is illegal for them to advise you about how to handle a case. Court staff does not have the authority to reschedule a court appearance or excuse a failure to appear. If you need advice, you must contact an attorney.

2. Can I write a letter to a judge?: Yes, but you must file any written communication with the clerk, and you must provide copies to the prosecutor. Written communication must include your name and case number. You must clearly state what you want the court to do and why it should be done. If your motion is properly filed, the prosecutor will be allowed ten days to file a response, and the court will rule within a reasonable time after that.

3. Can I talk to a judge about my case?: No. Judges are not allowed to talk directly with litigants, witnesses, friends, or family members about a pending case or a situation that might result in litigation. Ethical rules require judges to make sure that both parties are present, with their lawyers, before discussing a case.

4. What can I do if I have a warrant for my arrest?: Any motion to quash a warrant must be filed in writing. Alternatively, you may surrender yourself to the court and ask to be scheduled for an initial appearance. Please note that you may be required to post a bond. Court employees have no authority to quash a warrant for failure to appear.

5. What can I do if there is a default judgment against me in a civil traffic case?: If a default judgment is entered against you, your license will be suspended and you will be required to pay a civil penalty in order to reinstate your license. Any request to set aside a default judgment must be filed in writing and must show good cause.

6. What can I do if I cannot make it on time for a court appearance?: If you need to reschedule a court appearance, you must file a motion to reschedule at least ten business days before the scheduled court date. Please note that if your motion is not granted, you will be required to appear as scheduled. If you file a motion to reschedule later than ten days before your scheduled date, you might risk a warrant (in criminal cases) or a default (on civil charges) if you fail to appear. Please note that court employees have no authority to reschedule a court date.

7. What happens if I fail to appear on my court date?: If you have been charged with a civil traffic violation, a default judgment will be entered against you and your license will be suspended. If your case involves criminal charges, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Please note that court employees have no authority to excuse a failure to appear.

8. When is my next court date?: Keeping track of your court dates is up to you. However, if you have forgotten your court date, court staff may be able to provide that information if you know your case number. If you do not remember your case number, court staff might be able to help you find it. However, in some cases it may be difficult to find your case, such as if there is an error in the spelling of your name. It is always best to keep your case number handy.

9. Do I have to report a change of address?: Yes. If you have any pending cases with the Casa Grande City Court, it is your responsibility to keep your address current. If you fail to provide the Court with the appropriate contact information, you may not receive notification regarding your case. This could result in a warrant being issued for your arrest, or a default judgment being entered against you.

10. What if I need special accommodations, such as an interpreter or a hearing device?: If you do not speak English, are hearing impaired, or require any other form of special accommodation, please let a Court employee know so that we can make appropriate arrangements before your court appearance.

11. How do I attend defensive driving school for a traffic ticket?: Defensive driving school must be completed at least seven (7) days prior to the court date on your traffic ticket. To locate a school near you, visit AZ Drive or call 888-334-5565.

12. If I have to pay a fine, when do I need to pay it?: Fines are typically due on the date they are imposed. If you are unable to pay in full, you may apply for a payment contract and you may be subject to a credit check to determine your ability to pay. If you are granted a payment contract, a time payment fee of $20 and a court security fee of $20 will be added to your total fine.

13. How do I pay a ticket or fine?

You can make payments in person at the Casa Grande City Court at any time during normal business hours. The Court accepts payments in cash, money order, cashier's check, Visa, and MasterCard.

You can also make payments online.

You can leave your payment in the form of a money order or cashier's check in the Court's drop box, located on the wall to the right of the main entrance to the Casa Grande City Court. Please include the Defendant's name and case number on the payment. Do not leave personal checks or cash in the drop box.

2. What if I miss a Campaign Finance filing deadline?: The committee is liable for a late penalty of $10 for each day the filing is late during the first 15 days after the deadline and $25 for each subsequent day that the filing is late. Penalties accrue until the late report is filed.

3. What type of Candidate Committee / Campaign Finance forms do I need to file?

To register a new candidate committee, file a Statement of Organization within 10 days after qualifying as a candidate committee. A candidate qualifies as a Candidate Committee if the candidate receives contributions or makes expenditures, in any combination, of at least $1,100 in connection with that candidacy.

Campaign finance reports must be filed in accordance with campaign finance laws as long as the candidate committee is active. All committees are subject to late filing penalties. Once a Committee Termination Statement is filed, campaign finance reports are no longer required to be filed.

1. Are inflatables or vendors allowed in the parks?

Contact Community Services for an approved list of vendors.

Personally owned inflatables are not permitted in City parks.
Park users must use a vendor that meets City requirements (City business license and certificate of liability insurance). Park users must notify the Parks and Recreation Office at least a week prior to the reservation date.
No water. Inflatables that require water such as slip and slides, dunk tanks, water tags, water balloons, etc. are not permitted.
Autos, trucks, vans, or other motorized vehicles may not be driven in/on or parked in any off-the-road area (City Ordinance 12.04.160).
There shall be no sale of any kind of goods in the park without prior approval from the Community Services Director and business authorization obtained from the City. In addition, the Community Services Director may require additional information such as Certificate of Liability Insurance, additional deposits, etc. (City Ordinance 12.04.020).

2. What happens if there are fires, trash, and vandalism?

Residents who see a non-emergency issue that needs to be addressed or code violations are encouraged to report it through SeeClickFix.

The areas reserved shall be left in an orderly condition and all papers, rubbish and other debris shall be deposited in the proper receptacles. (City Ordinance 12.04.040, 12.04.100).
No glass is allowed in any park. (City Ordinance 12.04.110).
There shall be no cutting of any vegetation or mutilation of trees or shrubs.
No fires shall be made in the park except in designated fireplaces or fire rings as approved by the Community Services Director.
Damage and/or litter to facilities may result in charges and may jeopardize your privilege to make future reservations. If you see vandalism in a park area or facility, please call 911, Park Rangers at 520-421-8700, or the Parks and Recreation Office at 520-421-8677.

3. Are alcoholic beverages allowed?: Consumption of alcoholic beverages within Peart, O'Neil, Nutt, and Elliott Park requires a permit. Permits are free and issued to the responsible party for the event. Permits must be obtained in person at the Parks and Recreation Office.

4. Can we have live or amplified music?

There shall be no amplified music without prior approval from the Community Services Director (City Ordinance 12.04.040)

There are three parks (Dave White, Peart, and Villago) in which amplified music is currently allowed with certain restrictions. In all cases, noise levels within all parks must remain at an acceptable level.
All amplified music must cease by 8 pm at Dave White Park and Villago Community Park, and by 10:30 at Peart Park.
Music must be kept at a reasonable level to avoid disturbance to other park users and nearby residents.
Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in loss of amplified music privileges.

5. Are motorized vehicles allowed on Casa Grande Mountain?: No, the trail system on Casa Grande Mountain is only for use by hiking, biking, and equestrian means. The use of motorized vehicles is forbidden and posted on-site.

6. I am interested in holding a special event in Casa Grande. What do I need to do?: Event organizers planning events with over 150 people in attendance at city parks or on city property are encouraged to complete the Special Events Application and send it to the Community Services Department in order to schedule a meeting with the Special Events Committee.

7. How do I reserve a sports field or open space?: Sports Fields and Open Spaces may be reserved at the Community Recreation Center or online. All fees are paid at the time of reservation and include lights. Tournaments, Leagues, and Associations are required to submit a League & Tournament application to communityservices@casagrandeaz.gov.

8. How do I reserve a park ramada?: The City allows ramadas to be reserved in any City park that also has a restroom amenity. Reservations can be made online or in person at the Community Recreation Center, 1905 N Peart Road There is a fee of $6.25 per hour to reserve a ramada and a minimum of a four-hour reservation is required. 3. How can I participate in the budget process?: The budget is an ongoing process combining citizen input, Council vision and direction, and staff recommendations to meet community needs. The City of Casa Grande is required by law to adopt a balanced budget that is open to citizen input and participation. Each resident can have a voice in deciding what the budget will be spent on and how it will be paid for before it is adopted.

4. How do I pay a bill?

The Financial Services Division prepares billings for all city services customers including wastewater, sanitation, irrigation, landfill, airport leases, business licenses, other miscellaneous services and the Copper Mountain Water Company.

1. Does the Casa Grande Fire Department have volunteer fire fighters?: No, the volunteer program is for administrative office duties and Public Education programs.

2. Can I paint my fire hydrant or plant shrubbery around it to make it blend in better with my landscape?

The fire hydrants are owned by the Arizona Water Company. You can call them at 520-836-8785 and they will supply the paint to repaint them as they currently are. The colors on top of the hydrant signal the Fire Department as to what size fitting to use for proper connection in case of a fire. You cannot block a fire hydrant in any way with shrubbery or plants. Fire hydrants must be easily accessible.

3. Does the Fire Department give out FREE car seats?: No, the Fire Department does not have a car seat program.

4. Does the Fire Department replace smoke alarms? What if they are hard wired?: The Fire Department does not replace smoke alarms of any kind. You will need to contact an electrician or handyman for replacements.

5. Can I drop off my used sharps to the Fire Stations?: No, we do not take them. Your pharmacist can provide mail back sharps containers when they fill the prescriptions for injectable medications.

6. Does the Fire Department send out Fire trucks for Birthday parties?: It is the policy of the Fire Department that we do not send out trucks for birthday parties.

7. How can I make sure my Smoke Alarm is working as it should?: A smoke alarm is a device that detects smoke and sounds an alarm to alert people nearby that there is a potential fire. 1. What City Codes address dumping in floodplains and waterways?

City Code 8.08.190 Burning, dumping unlawful.

No person shall burn, incinerate, bury, dump, collect, remove or in any other manner dispose of rubbish, garbage, green waste, or waste, except with special permit, within the limits of the City. No person shall throw, discard or deposit any refuse or waste in or upon any street, alley, sidewalk or vacant ground, or in or upon any canal, irrigation ditch, drainage ditch or other watercourse.

City Code 8.12.030 Public nuisances defined.

A.2. Unlawfully interferes with, obstructs or tends to obstruct or renders dangerous the free passage or use, in the customary manner, of any stream, public park, parkway, square, sidewalk, street or highway in the City, and is no less a nuisance because the extent of the annoyance or damage inflicted is unequal.

City Code 12.04.100 Dumping of refuse and trash prohibited.

No person in a park shall bring in trash from other areas for the purpose of deposit in the park and no person shall dump, deposit, or leave any beverage containers, broken beverage containers, ashes, paper, boxes, cans, dirt, rubbish, waste, garbage or refuse, or other trash. No such refuse or trash shall be placed in any waters in or contiguous to any park, or left anywhere on the grounds thereof, but shall be placed in the proper receptacles where these are provided; where receptacles are not so provided, all such rubbish or waste shall be carried away from the park by the person responsible for its presence and properly disposed of elsewhere.

D. Floodway areas shall be preserved from any and all destruction or damage resulting from clearing, grading, or dumping of earth, waste material, or stumps, except at the discretion of the City Council.

2. Do I need a permit to repair a gas line leak at my home?: Yes. The gas company requires the city to inspect the line prior to turning your service back on. We will require a basic sketch of the gas line location, depth, pipe size, and materials used. Please call the City Development Center for more information.

3. How soon can I have an inspection and can I make an appointment to meet the inspector on-site?: To request a building inspection, please complete the online form in its entirety. The City does not provide same-day inspections. Inspection requests received by 11:59 pm will be scheduled for the following business day. Please have all work completed prior to requesting your inspection. Inspectors can arrive any time after 6 am until 3:30 pm. A re-inspect fee may apply if the inspector arrives and work is not ready for inspection.

4. How much does a building permit cost?: It depends on the scope and costs of the work. Some permits have a flat fee such as, swimming pools, electrical permits, and solar permits. Other permits are based on the valuation of the work being done that is figured using the International Code Council valuation table. All City building fees are posted on the City website or you can call the City Development Center if you'd like an estimate of fees for your project.

5. Can I act as the contractor for my own residential building?

Yes. If you are the owner of the property you may act as your own contractor. Part of the application process will ask you to sign affirming the following per the Arizona State Statute:

"I am the owner of the property. I am doing the work myself or with duly licensed contractors. The improvements to the property are intended for occupancy solely by the owner and are not intended for occupancy by members of the public, as the owner's employees or business visitors, and the structures or appurtenances are not intended for sale or for rent."

6. Do I need a permit to build my small accessory building such as a shed, shade structure or carport?: The City's building code allows the construction of certain small detached accessory structures that are limited in height and which do not have utility connections (i.e., electric, water, sewer) without obtaining a building permit. For residential properties, the structure cannot exceed 200 square feet; and for commercial properties, the structure cannot exceed 120 square feet in size. However, you are required to obtain approval from the Planning Department to confirm that it meets the size and height limits and complies with the required setbacks from your property lines.

7. What can I do if my landlord discriminates against me, won’t make needed housing repairs, or if I have other landlord / tenant related issues?: The City of Casa Grande does not mediate landlord/tenant issues. For these issues you may want to contact The Southwest Fair Housing Council at 520-798-1568; the Arizona Attorney General's Office [Tucson 520-628-6500 / Phoenix 602-542-5263]; or the U.S. HUD office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at 800-347-3739.

8. Does the City have a program that helps you build a house or buy a home?: he City does not provide any homebuyer assistance programs, however; persons interested in purchasing a home may want to contact the State of Arizona at 602-771-1000 regarding their assistance with the "HOME PLUS" program and the "Pathway to Purchase" programs or contact a realtor who may work with government assistance loans and programs.

9. Can I get help with paying my rent?: The City of Casa Grande does not have a rental assistance program. For emergency rental assistance, please contact Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA) at 520-466-1112 or Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) at 520-426-0888. For Veterans, you may also contact National Community Health Partners (NCPH) at 520-876-0699 and speak to them about the "Housing for Heroes" assistance. For long-term rental assistance such as "Section 8" or other HUD rental assistance programs, please contact the Pinal County Housing Authority at 520-866-7201.

10. What types of repairs can be done through the Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation (OOHR) program?: The OOHR program is dedicated to abating or correcting housing issues that relate to the health and safety or accessibility of the homeowner who resides in the home. Repairs are determined on a case-by-case basis and include but are not limited to roof repairs, heating and A/C repairs, shower modifications, structural repairs, plumbing repairs, and electrical repairs, etc.

11. How can I get assistance for repairs to my home?: Income-qualified homeowners can apply for assistance with necessary and emergency repairs (health and safety, or accessibility issues) by completing an application for the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation (OOHR) program with the City Community Development Division. Applications can be picked up at the Housing Office (510 E Florence Boulevard, Casa Grande, AZ 85122); or you may call 520-421-8670 to have an application mailed to your home.

12. Is my property located within the City?: The City map that is found on the Planning Department web page illustrates the city boundary as a dashed yellow line. You can use this map to determine if your property is located within or outside of the City of Casa Grande municipal boundaries. Your mailing address may reference Casa Grande but that does not necessarily mean that your property is actually located within the City limits.

13. How can I find my property lines?: Understanding where your property lines are located is critical when placing any structures on the property as the City's zoning regulations require that minimum setbacks be maintained for all structures from your property lines. The most reliable way to know the location of your property lines is to hire a surveyor to create an accurate property survey. Less accurate methods include reviewing the Location Improvement Corticated that is created with many home sales and provided at loan closing or a review of the City's Geographic Based Information (GIS) mapping which reflects property boundary information supplied by the County's Assessor's Office.

14. How can I find out what is planned for development in Casa Grande?: Information regarding proposed land developments can be found on the Projects Under Review Map located on the Planning Department's web page. Buildings that have received permits to begin construction can be found on the Building's Under Construction Map also located on the Planning Department's web page.

15. How can I determine who owns a piece of property?: You can find ownership information at the Pinal County Website.

16. How can I determine what I can use my property for?: The allowable uses for each property differ depending on the specific zoning district that the property is located within. These uses can be found by reviewing Title 17 (Zoning) of the City Code or by calling the City Development Center and speaking with a planner.

17. What is my property zoned?: You may find the zoning of your property on the City’s Interactive Zoning Map that can be accessed from the Planning Department’s web page. You will need to have either the property address, or the Assessor’s Parcel Number, to assist in the zoning search.

18. Can I build a sidewalk in front of my house?: Yes, but you will need to fill out a Public Improvement Permit Application and construct it in a specific location and to specific construction standards.

19. Can I build a driveway?: Yes, but the City Code limits each single-family home to one driveway access to the street unless special approval is granted. Driveway access ways for multifamily, office, commercial and industrial uses also need approval by the Planning Department. You should contact the engineering or planning staff at the City Development Center for information regarding the specific approval and permitting process for new driveways.

20. Where do the main sewer lines run?: In general City sewer mains run down the middle of streets and alleyways although occasionally sewer mains are located within easements located on private property. The City maintains a map of all City sewer lines which is displayed on the City Geographic Information Systems (GIS) system. You can contact the engineering review staff at the City Development Center for information regarding the specific location of City sewer lines near your property.

21. What is the Right of Way (ROW) on a particular street?: Street rights-of-way vary in width depending on whether the street is a local, minor collector, major collector, minor arterial or major arterial. You can contact the engineering review staff at the City Development Center for specific right-of-way location for your property.

22. Is my property in the floodplain?: You can determine whether your property is located within a Special Flood Hazard Area by reviewing the Special Flood Hazard Area Map. The City will issue a formal written determination as to whether your property is located within any Special Flood Hazard Area if you file a Flood Area Determination application which also can be found on the Planning Department web page. If your property is located within a Special Flood Hazard Area you may be eligible to purchase Flood Insurance.

23. Why can’t I keep all my old furniture and appliances in my carport / driveway / yard?: According to City Code 8.12.160 Unsightly Premises - Visible to Public, the City does not allow properties to become visibly unsightly. So the items would have to be relocated indoors, to a storage unit, in a screened area in your rear or side yard or disposed of.

24. My neighbor has weeds and we don’t have an HOA, can the City do something about it?: According to the Property Maintenance Code Section 302.4 Weeds, the premises shall be maintained free from weeds in excess of 12 inches for residential properties and 24 inches in undeveloped properties. So yes you may report properties that have weeds in excess of these heights and the City will require the property owner to cut or remove them.

25. Why can’t I work on my project car in my driveway?: According to City Code 17.56.010C Parking of Inoperable or Unlicensed Vehicles in Residential Areas, only licensed and operable vehicles may be parked in the driveway but the vehicle can be relocated and worked on in a screened area of the rear or side yard or within your garage.

26. Why can’t I park my car on my front lawn area….it is my property?: According to City Code 8.12.050 Parking on Front Lawn, vehicles shall not be parked or stored within the front or corner side of the yard other than on a driveway surface. You can expand your paved driveway to accommodate more vehicle parking as long as it does not exceed 50% of the front yard area.

27. Where can I park my RV on my property?: Recreation vehicles may be parked in your side or rear yard or within your garage.

28. Can I park my RV in my front yard or driveway?: According to City Code 17.56.010D RV Parking in Front Yard, a recreation vehicle shall not be parked in any front or corner side yards.

1. Does the City of Casa Grande have their own Animal Control?: Yes! We are located at 202 E 1st Avenue, our phone number is 520-426-9300 and we have a beautiful facility with animals for adoption. When calling The Casa Grande Animal Care and Adoption Center you must leave a message and we will return your call as quickly as possible.

2. I found a stray and Animal Control is closed. What should I do?: Animal Control has a stray island drop-off area located on Main Avenue. If you find a stray animal, bring it down to the stray island, place the animal in a kennel and lock the kennel door. There are forms attached to the kennel doors to leave information, i.e. your name, and where and when you found the animal. We do not allow feral cats or owned animals to be placed in the drop-off area; this is for strays only.

3. There are a lot of stray cats in my neighborhood. What can be done?: We do not encourage feeding stray cats. As we like to say at animal control, "if you feed them, they will come and bring friends". We do not respond to cats at large, but have live traps available to rent, or we recommend that you purchase one at a local business. You can trap Sunday night through Thursday night, provided there are no holidays that fall on those days. When you have trapped a cat, simply call Animal Control, leave a message telling us that you have trapped a cat, give your name, address, and phone number and we will pick up the cat at no charge. We require you to shut down traps by 7 am during the warm summer months, and by 10 am during the cooler months.

4. I need to spay / neuter my pet do you have any programs for this?

Yes! The City of Casa Grande has a low-cost spay / neuter program available, and at times other programs are available. Contact Animal Control and we will be happy to give you the options available.

The Benefits of spaying or neutering your pet are numerous, such as living longer healthier lives, preventing cancer, less likely to roam, possibly better behavior and much more.

5. My dog has some bad behaviors. What can I do?: Bad behaviors can result from many things such as boredom, lack of training, separation anxiety, health issues, and much more. If a behavior pops up suddenly and is not normal behavior for your pet, check with your veterinarian to make sure a health issue is not the cause. Obedience training is another great way to curb unwanted behaviors. Check online for local classes. The internet offers many different ideas and tips for do-it-yourself training to help you change those behaviors.

6. I can’t keep my pet. Can I bring it to Animal Control?: Due to the large number of strays that are brought to animal control every month, we are limited in the number of owned animals we can take in. Though we try to accommodate as much as possible, you may want to look for other places to rehome your pet. You can utilize the local newspaper or social media to place an ad. You can also check with a rescue—you can find many online. When turning over an owned animal to Animal Control, there is a fee to surrender an animal.

7. My dog gets out of my yard. What can I do?

Dogs can get out of yards by jumping, digging, breaking through old fencing, or simply walking through an unclosed gate.

Some ways to prevent this from happening include making sure that you do not have things close to the fence that a dog can get up on to jump the fence, such as tables, landscape, or unwanted items. Check your fencing regularly for any breaks, looseness, or holes. If your dog is a digger, you may need to bury some fencing under the ground to stop your dog from escaping. If you have gates that open easily or are hard to keep shut, you may need to put a lock on them so that your pet is secure. Your local Animal Control Officers have many ideas about keeping your animals home and safe. Give them a call—they are happy to help.

8. Can I let my dog run free in the parks or desert areas?: We have a beautiful dog park located near Rodeo Road and Pinal Avenue; this is the only park within the city where dogs can run off-leash. The city ordinances and state laws do not allow for a dog to be at large. All dogs are to be restrained by a leash or enclosure.

9. How many pets can I have? Can I get a kennel license in the city?: We do not issue kennel licenses in the city of Casa Grande, making 4 pets the limit within the city.

10. Do I need to get my pet vaccinated and licensed?

11. My dog always knocks over its water. What can I do?

We are required to have potable water (drinkable water) at all times for our pets. Some tips to help the dog who loves to tip over the water to lay in it:

Try using a wide base container that is more difficult to tip
Dig a hole just large enough to set a plastic bucket inside so that they can't tip it over
Set a bucket inside of a square brick making it difficult for the dog to tip the bucket
Try having a kiddy pool along with a separate drinking water bucket so they can get in to cool off

In the Arizona sun, a metal container will quickly heat your pet's water, causing your pet not to drink even though it is there. A 10% loss of body water can cause serious illness in an animal, so whatever trick works for your pet is worth the effort.

12. My dog has a dog house. Is that enough shade?: The inside of a doghouse in the Arizona sun gets very hot. It is important to have available shade outside of the doghouse where your dog can rest. Your dog may use the dog house if that is the only shade available, but remember they can be much more sensitive to heat than you. Check the temperature inside the doghouse.

13. What happens with my pet if it bites someone?

Whenever a dog or cat bites someone and breaks the skin, it must be quarantined for ten days. The location of the quarantine is determined by many things, such as:

Is the animal rabies vaccinated and licensed?
Was the animal at large when it bit someone?
Has the animal bitten before?
Is there a secure location to quarantine the animal?

Your local Animal Control officer will work with you to determine what is the safest location for your pet to be quarantined.

14. What should I do if a dog or cat bites someone?: Whenever a dog or cat bites any person, the incident shall be reported to the Police Department or Animal Control Officer immediately by any person having knowledge of the bite.

15. Does disturbing the peace apply to pets?

Yes, it is unlawful to harbor or keep any animals that disturb the peace by loud noises at any time day or night.

"Our inquiry must determine whether the noise would disturb a person of ordinary sensitivities; that is … not merely because it offends some super sensitive or hypercritical individual, but because it is, by its nature, of a sort that is a substantial interference with (our old friend) the reasonable man." Arizona Court of Appeals in State v. Singer, 945 P.2d 359 (1997).

More Information to Help with Barking Dogs

Many things can get a dog barking. Is the dog barking only at certain times? Is there a lot of foot traffic near your area? Is the dog in distress? You may want to talk with your neighbor; they may be unaware that the dog is creating a problem with its barking. Sometimes people unintentionally become complacent and don't realize that it may be bothering others. You can also contact Animal Control and we can do a "knock and talk" with the pet owner to assist you.

16. How dangerous can the summer heat be for pets?

Heatstroke is a leading cause of summer pet deaths. On a warm day, the temperature inside your car can reach 160 degrees in a matter of minutes-even with the windows partially open. Pets don't perspire like humans, they pant to cool off. With only hot air to breathe (enclosed car), pets can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke.

Walking your dog in the heat of the day can cause very painful burns that can take weeks to heal. sidewalks can reach more than 150 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Walk your dog in the early morning or later in the evening, Temperatures above 90 degrees are too hot for walking.

Some rules to follow:

Never leave your pet in an enclosed space, like a car or a plastic kennel.
Always make sure your pet has plenty of shade and fresh water.
Keep geriatric, overweight and short-nosed dogs i.e. (Bulldogs, pugs, Pekinese, and Boston terriers) in the A/C. These types of dogs are more sensitive to heat.
Seek immediate medical attention if your pet shows any signs of heat stroke such as excessive panting / drooling, bright red gums, vomiting and / or diarrhea, lethargy or stupor / loss of balance, loss of consciousness, seizure or collapse.

17. What should I do if my cat or dog is missing?

Contact the Animal Control Department as soon as possible and leave your name, address, home phone number, work phone number, and a description of your animal.

Search the area near your home. Post signs in your area and post on local social media to help get the word out that your pet is lost.

Remember, you are your pet's best friend. Provide identification. If your pet ever does get loose, the license can help ensure a safe return. A cat or dog picked up and placed in the City Animal Control Impound Facility that is not wearing a current license is deemed unowned. An unowned animal or "stray" is held for 72 hours (three days) and is then open for adoption.

4. How does the City determine which streets to schedule for preventive maintenance work?: A computerized pavement management system is used to store the condition data of all roads. The system utilizes a computer model, which predicts the proper time to perform preventive maintenance work. Staff then inspects the roadways proposed by the system and determines which will be treated based on available funding.

1. Does the City or the landfill accept refrigerators or other appliances with Freon?: The City will collect refrigerators or other appliances with Freon for residents only. Please call to schedule the collection of your items prior to the date of your zone's uncontained scheduled service. Please note that there will be a $30 fee applied to your account to recover the cost of Freon removal. Residents may also dispose of appliances at the landfill provided that you understand there is a $30 fee due at time of disposal to recover the cost of the Freon removal unless; the appliance has been labeled certified by AHRI/UL to meet EPA's minimum requirements for recycling and/or recovery equipment. The landfill accepts the following forms of payment; cash, check, visa or master card. A Refrigerants Form will need to be filled out when bringing the item to drop off or for pickup.

2. What do I need in order to dispose items at the landfill?: Please provide a current trash and sewer utility bill; you must be current on your account. You will also be asked to provide your driver’s license.

3. I am remodeling my home, can I rent a large dumpster from the City?: Yes! Please contact the City of Casa Grande Landfill at 520-421-8628 for information on roll-off or 30-yard container. 4. If we kept the recycling program, how much more would I pay?: Keeping the recycling program would have added about $3 a month to all trash and sewer bills regardless of whether a customer took part in the recycling program.

5. How many customers use the recycling program?: About 26% of customers take part in the city's recycling program.

6. How much more would the recycling program cost the city?: In 2018, a vendor paid the city $18 a ton for our recycled materials. Our lowest bid this year would have required the city to pay a vendor $67 per ton for recycled materials, plus cover the cost of transportation and a fine of $50 a ton if a load was contaminated with non-recyclable material.

7. Why is the city suspending the recycling program?: The cost of recycling programs for municipalities has increased substantially after China, the largest buyer of recycled materials, announced it was limiting imports due to environmental concerns. As a result, it's becoming too expensive to collect, transport, and process recycled materials that have little or no market value.

8. When will the program be suspended?: Recycling pickups will be suspended as of July 1, 2019. Notices of the last pickup date will be placed in the blue recycling bins prior to the last pickup.

9. What is the status of the city’s recycling program?: The city is suspending the current recycling program until a more effective, efficient, and economically viable means of recycling is found to replace the current program.

Home Owner's Associations are responsible for the water retention basins in their developments. The retention basins are meant to retain the water to help keep the roads from flooding in the areas.

The Recreation Division offers classes throughout the year and opens registration and viewing for new courses each Spring, Summer, and Fall. 2. Am I allowed to bring my dog to an event in a park?: Dogs are allowed in all City parks as long as they are on leash and properly supervised. Pet owners are responsible for cleanup of their animals.

3. Is there a charge to attend City events?: Almost all events offered by the City are completely free of charge to attend and participate in. Any events that do require a fee will be specified in the event description. Additionally, outside vendors do attend some City events and may charge for goods or services.

4. I am interested in holding a special event in Casa Grande. 6. How do I reserve a sports field or open space?: To reserve a sports field or open space, please visit the Recreation Office and obtain a Field Request form. This form lists all fees and requirements for use of City fields. Fees vary based on desired use and field preparation requests. Lights are included in the hourly fee for field use and will be scheduled with a 15-minute grace period following the end of the rental. 4. When can I renew my TPT license?: The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) sends renewal letters to businesses to renew their Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License. The renewal process begins in November.

5. My business (or location) is closed; what do I need to do?: If the business is closed, the license must be canceled to avoid the renewal requirement, as well as applicable fees and penalties. If the location is closed, the location needs to be removed from the license to avoid the renewal requirement, as well as applicable fees and penalties.

6. I am an out-of-state business without a physical presence in Arizona, do I have to renew my TPT license?: Out-of-state sellers that meet the thresholds (Marketplace facilitators $100,000; Remote sellers $100,000) for sales to customers in Arizona in either the current or prior calendar year are required to renew their TPT license.

7. How do I renew my license on AZTaxes.gov?: Go to AZTaxes.gov. Log in using your username and password. Click "License Renewal" in the 'Action' section of your Business List or select "License Renewal" on the left-hand navigation bar.
