What can I do if I cannot make it on time for a court appearance?

If you need to reschedule a court appearance, you must file a motion to reschedule at least ten business days before the scheduled court date. Please note that if your motion is not granted, you will be required to appear as scheduled. If you file a motion to reschedule later than ten days before your scheduled date, you might risk a warrant (in criminal cases) or a default (on civil charges) if you fail to appear. Please note that court employees have no authority to reschedule a court date.
