Casa Grande’s elections coincide with the State fall elections in even-numbered years. The City Primary Election will be held on August 4, 2020, and the General Election will be held on November 3, 2020.   Information relating to the election will be posted on this section of the City’s website.

Political and Campaign Sign Placement

This information is provided as a courtesy by the Casa Grande City Clerk’s Office. It is intended to assist in meeting the requirements for candidacy.  However, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that all legal requirements have been met. The City Clerk’s Office cannot render legal, financial or other professional advice.

Qualifications for Mayor

  • 25 years of age or older at the time of filing nomination papers
  • Qualified registered voter of the City of Casa Grande at the time of filing nomination
    papers
  • Resident of the City of Casa Grande for three years next preceding the date of the
    election
  • Able to speak, write and read the English language
  • A person convicted of a felony cannot serve as a Mayor until he has been restored his
    civil rights
  • City employees are not eligible to stand for election or serve as Mayor

Qualifications for City Council

  • 21 years of age or older at the time of filing nomination papers
  • Qualified registered voter of the City of Casa Grande at the time of filing nomination
    papers
  • Resident of the City of Casa Grande for three years next preceding the date of the
    election
  • Able to speak, write and read the English language
  • A person convicted of a felony cannot serve as a Council Member until he has been
    restored his civil rights
  • City employees are not eligible to stand for election or serve as a Council Members

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES

A write-in candidate has not circulated candidate petitions; consequently, the write-in candidate’s name does not appear on the election ballot. Write-in candidates are allowed at both the primary and general election subject to limitations. If the person meets the qualifications to be a write in candidate, a voter may write the candidate’s name on the ballot and the vote will be counted.  A.R.S. § 16-312 requires that any person wishing to become a write-in candidate for the Primary Election scheduled for August 4, 2020, file a Nomination Paper and Financial Disclosure Statement by June 25, 2020, 5:00 p.m., at the Casa Grande City Clerk’s Office, 510 E. Florence Blvd.

CANDIDATOS POR ESCRITO

Un candidato por escrito no ha circulado peticiones de candidatos; en consecuencia, el nombre del candidato por escrito no aparece en la boleta electoral. Los candidatos por escrito están permitidos en las elecciones primarias y generales, sujeto a limitaciones. Si la persona cumple con los requisitos para ser candidato por escrito, un votante puede escribir el nombre del candidato en la boleta y se contará el voto. A.R.S. § 16-312 requiere que cualquier persona que desee convertirse en un candidato por escrito para la Elección Primaria programada para el 4 de agosto de 2020, presente un Documento de Nominación y una Declaración de Divulgación Financiera antes del 25 de junio de 2020 a las 5:00 p.m., en la Casa Grande Oficina del secretario municipal, 510 E. Florence Blvd.

Term of Mayor

Mayor serves for a term of two years and cannot serve for more than four consecutive terms.

Term of Council Members

Council Members serve for a term of four years and can serve unlimited terms.

Voter Registration

To register to vote, you must be:

  • A United States Citizen
  • Eighteen years of age or older on or before the election
  • Resident of the City 29 days prior to the election
  • Have not been convicted of a felony or treason, if so, your civil rights have been restored

If you are registering for the first time within Pinal County, you must also submit proof of citizenship with your voter registration form.

Voter registration deadline in order to vote in the Primary Election, is by July 6, 2020.

Voter registration deadline in order to vote in the General Election, is by October 5, 2020.
