On June 26, 2017 the City of Casa Grande Community Development Division will host an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of a recent housing rehabilitation project. The home, located at 1141 E. 11th Street, received a series of enhancements through the Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program to address ADA accessibility issues along with health and safety issues within the home.
This specific project was a major rehabilitation due to accessibility issues, trip and fall hazards, electrical code compliance issues and plumbing system issues. One of the homeowners, who is a retired veteran, is a disabled elderly man with a disabled spouse who needed an ADA roll-in shower and a ramp at the front entrance.
The cost to complete this project was $44,965, and was made possible through funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program of the Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) HOME funds, along with the City of Casa Grande’s Program Income. The City’s Community Development Division has a target of nine housing units to rehabilitate in 2017, and is on schedule to meet that target by June 2018.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, June 26, 2017. The program will include remarks from Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland and representatives from the City of Casa Grande, CAHRA, R.E.A. Construction and a member of the homeowner’s family.
