CASA GRANDE INVITES COMMUNITY TO JOIN FIRST EVER SCARE-Y-GRANDE COMPETITION AT ANNUAL HALLOWEEN HARVEST FESTIVAL.
Casa Grande, AZ -The City of Casa Grande is adding a new twist to its beloved Annual Halloween Harvest Festival with the launch of the city’s first-ever “Scare-Y-Grande Scarecrow Competition”. The free, family-friendly festival will take place on Thursday, October 23, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Paul Mason Sports Complex, 252 N. Pinal Ave., Casa Grande, AZ 85122.
Presented by the City of Casa Grande, the Halloween Harvest Festival promises an evening of festive fun, spooky creativity, and community spirit. Festivalgoers can enjoy games, activities, entertainment, and this year’s newest feature: a community-wide scarecrow contest.
Scare-Y-Grande is a collaboration between the City of Casa Grande Community Services Department, Experience Casa Grande, the Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Office, and the Casa Grande Arts and Culture Commission. Residents, businesses, schools, and organizations are invited to design and build their very own scarecrows for display at the festival. Attendees will vote for their favorite creation, and the winner of the “Best Scarecrow” will receive a prize and be recognized at a future Casa Grande City Council meeting. Scarecrow Registration is through the Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Office.
Key Dates for Participants:
- Scarecrow Registration: September 15 – October 11
- Build & Design Period: Through October 22
- Set-Up: Day of Event (October 23) — all scarecrows must be able to stand upright.
- Take-Down: Following event conclusion.
Participants will also have the option to extend the life of their scarecrows with a display at City Hall from October 24 to November 30. Display locations will be coordinated by the City Clerk’s Office. To schedule, email the Clerk's Office or call 520-421-8600.
“This new tradition is a chance for our community to show off its creativity while adding a little extra fun to the Harvest Festival,” said Jo Hanken, Chair of the Arts & Culture Commission. “We can’t wait to see the scarecrows our residents and local groups bring to life.”
