[ARCHIVED] What’s Happening at the Library This Week (Sept 1–6, 2025)

Welcome to the City of Casa Grande Public Library’s Weekly Highlights (September 1–6, 2025)! Explore closures, programs for all ages—from the LEGO Checkout Challenge to nutrition classes, book clubs, and study opportunities—and discover how our library connects, educates, and empowers the community.

  • Library Closures

    • The Casa Grande Main Library and Vista Grande Library are closed on Monday, September 1, with regular hours resuming Tuesday, September 2. Digital resources remain available 24/7.

  • LEGO Checkout Challenge

    • In celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month, both locations are hosting a Library LEGO Checkout Challenge throughout September.

  • First Chapter Fridays (Ages 8–12)

    • Held on the 1st Friday of the month at Vista Grande Library, this program introduces children to new releases and timeless classics.

  • Choose Health Nutrition Series (Ages 8+)

    • Starting September 5, this fun, interactive class — presented by the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension’s Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program — runs weekly at the Main Library, 2:00–3:00 p.m.

  • Crochet & Knitting Club (Ages 12+)

    • Member-led meetups every Friday, 3:30–5:00 p.m. at Vista Grande Library. Bring your own supplies (some yarn available while it lasts).

  • LEGO-Themed Movie (All Ages, Under 12 Must Be Supervised)

    • Kick off the LEGO fun with a movie screening at the Main Library on Saturday, September 6, at 2:00 p.m. Light snacks and drinks with screw-top lids are welcome.

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

    • Offered at Vista Grande Library Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. No registration is required; all levels are welcome.

  • Book Discussion: The River We Remember (Adults 18+)

    • Hosted at Vista Grande Library on September 8, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

  • Monthly Gardening Presentations & Seed Library

    • Vista Grande Library presents garden-themed talks monthly, with September’s topic: Growing Grains (September 13). Plus, check out the Seed Library afterward. Upcoming topics through December include composting, square-foot gardening, and seasonal tips.

  • Mayor’s Reading Club (Volunteer Opportunity)

    • Volunteer an hour a month reading to K–3 students. Learn more.

  • Free Online Learning with Universal Class

    • Homeschoolers, adult learners, and college students can access hundreds of free continuing-education courses with their library card, via Universal Class.

  • Tutor Tech Time

    • One-on-one, in-person tech help (e.g., using iPhones, e-Books, social media) is available for adults (18+). Appointments can be scheduled via the provided scheduling link

  • Adult High School Diploma Program

    • A free program to help adults earn their high school diploma. For more information, please visit the provided resource link.

  • Study Room Reservations

  • Friends of the Library: Donations Welcome

    • The Friends of the Library are accepting small donations at both the Main and Vista Grande Library locations as part of their ongoing efforts.
