Combat Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, can mentally prepare for planned events, like the 4th of July. However, the unexpected discharge of firecrackers can trigger them back to the battlefield and set them on edge.
This Independence Day, please show consideration and gratitude to our local combat veterans by NOT using illegal firecrackers that explode or make loud sounds. Silent fireworks that produce little to no noise can be obtained for smaller gatherings. Silent fireworks have also been found to benefit children with autism, survivors of gun violence, pets, and even wildlife.
Leave the fireworks up to the professionals, and plan on attending this year’s 4th of July Celebration from 7-10 p.m. at the Paul Mason Sports Complex for a safe night of fun and fireworks.
