The City of Casa Grande Municipal Airport holds a Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) (PDF) which covers the entire facility. This permit is intended to prevent potential contaminants from being discharged to stormwater runoff.
In accordance with the MSGP, the City has created and implemented a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) (PDF) to provide guidance to minimize risks of contamination. A component of this plan is Best Management Practices (BMPs) which are required to be implemented by the facility, including all users.
A Comprehensive Facility Inspection was conducted on Thursday, May 31, 2018. The overall inspection proved the airport to be well maintained, with a few exceptions. Below is a list of good housekeeping practices which address those exceptions:
- All gas cans, tanks, and containers need to be kept inside the hangar
- Any buckets or barrels containing liquids (such as oil, paint, etc.) also need to be placed inside the hangar
- Use caution when fueling to prevent spills; any spills must be appropriately cleaned up using a spill kit and disposed of properly
- Keep the area clean and free of debris, trash, sediment, or other pollutant sources that can enter any nearby storm drain systems
