[ARCHIVED] Your Guide to Casa Grande Library Programs (Sept 8–13)

Featured Programs & Events

  • Sensory Storytime — Interactive children's story time with tactile activities. Designed for ages 3–5, but all children are welcome.
    • When: Vista Grande Library, September 15, 10–11 a.m.
  • Library LEGO Checkout Challenge — Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with LEGO fun. Available throughout September.
    • Where: Casa Grande Main Library & Vista Grande Library
  • Choose Health Nutrition Class — Weekly interactive nutrition lessons for youth 8+, with younger siblings welcome.
    • Starts: September 12 at Main Library, 2–3 p.m. Presented by UA Cooperative Extension and EFNEP. Contact Esmeralda Castillo, Program Coordinator.
  • Crochet & Knitting Club — A member-led gathering for ages 12+. Bring your own supplies; some yarn available while supplies last.
    • When: Fridays, 3:30–5 p.m. at Vista Grande Library
  • Garden-to-Table Demo — Learn how to cook with your garden harvest, complete with demonstrations, tastings, and take-home recipes.
    • When: Saturday, September 13, 12–1 p.m. at Vista Grande Library. Featured ingredient: Basil. No registration required; ages 16+.
  • LEGO Movie Screening — A fun, “batty” LEGO-themed movie plus light snacks (in screw-top containers allowed). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • When: Saturday, September 13, 2 p.m. at Main Library
  • ESL Classes — English as a Second Language classes are now available Tuesdays and Thursdays. No registration required—attend one or both days.
    • When: 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Vista Grande Library
  • Book Conversation — Join an engaging discussion of The River We Remember by Kent Krueger. For adults 18+.
    • When: September 8, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Vista Grande Library
  • Monthly Gardening Tips — Presented by UA Master Gardeners. Topics include:
    • Sept 13: Growing Grains

    • Oct 11: Composting

    • Nov 8: Square-Foot, Intercropping, Chaos Gardening

    • Dec 13: Gardening Tools & Tips
      Afterward, visit the Seed Library to explore more gardening resources.

  • Beanstack Reading Challenges — Join via the Beanstack app for year-round reading fun:

    1. 25 in 25 Challenge (All Ages) — Read 25 books in 2025

    2. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (Ages 0–5) — Read 1,000 books to get a certificate and photo opportunity

    3. Back to School 2025 Challenge (All Ages) — Running through September 26

  • Mayor’s Reading Club — Volunteer an hour per month to read to K–3 students. Learn how to join at the City’s website.

  • Universal ClassOnline learning platform offering free continuing-education courses (with verified achievements) to all ages via your library card.
  • Tutor Tech TimeOne-hour, in-person tech help sessions (for ages 18+), covering topics like e-books, social media, and device usage.
  • GED Program — Adults can pursue a high school diploma for free through this program.
  • Study Room Reservations — Available up to two hours daily at both Main and Vista Grande Libraries. Reserve online, by phone, or in person.
