What Is a Landscape Plan?

A Landscape Plan includes the calculations, data, and detailed drawings for all landscaped areas, screening walls, and irrigation systems associated with a development. The plan must be consistent and comply with City landscaping standards.

When Is a Landscape Plan Required?

City Code requires that a Landscape Plan be submitted with other required site improvement and building plans at the time of building permit application, or prior to recordation of a final plat. The plan must be approved by the Planning & Development Director before permits are issued or plats are recorded.

What is a Landscape Plan Amendment? 

A Landscape Plan Amendment is required when changes are proposed to an approved Landscape Plan. Amendments ensure that modifications continue to meet City landscaping requirements and approved development conditions.

When is a Landscape Plan Amendment Required? 

  • A Landscape Plan Amendment is required when proposed changes include, but are not limited to:
  • Changes to plant species, quantities, or sizes. •Reductions or reconfiguration of landscaped areas or buffers.
  • Modifications to irrigation layout, water source, or coverage areas.
  • Changes to walls, screening, or landscape features shown on the approved plan.
  • Adjustments required due to field conditions that alter the approved landscape design.

Landscape Plan Amendment Submittal Requirements

Applications for a Landscape Plan Amendment must include the following:

  • Completed Landscape Plan application, identifying the request as an amendment.
  • A copy of the originally approved Landscape Plan.
  • Revised landscape and irrigation plan sheets clearly identifying all proposed changes.
  • A written narrative describing the reason for the amendment and summarizing changes.
  • Updated landscape calculations, if applicable.
  • Owner/Applicant Indemnification Statement, if landscaping is located in the public right-of-way.

Step-by-Step Landscape Plan Submittal Process

  1. Prepare the Landscape Plan and required irrigation plan in accordance with City standards.
  2. Complete the Landscape Plan application and checklist, indicating whether the request is a new plan or an amendment.
  3. Email the application and checklist to the Planning & Development.
  4. After staff review, pay the required review fees as instructed by the City.
  5. Upload all plan sheets and supporting materials to the City-provided upload link.
  6. City staff reviews the submittal and issues comments or approval.
  7. If revisions are required, resubmit updated plans for final approval.

Landscape Plan Submittal Checklist

  • Completed Landscape Plan application.

  • Landscape Plan sheets showing date, scale, north arrow, dimensions, and vicinity map.
